Tips on Choosing a Contractor

  1. GET REFERENCES! CHECK THEM OUT - If their record is spotless, ask for one that was a problem and see how well it was handled.

  2. Ask for projects from the last 10 years or since the inception of the business.

  3. Ask for and get a certificate of insurance - Make sure it is GOOD!

  4. Check with the BBB (Better Business Bureau).

  5. Ask for financial records if the project is over $100,000.00

  6. Get bonding if there is any doubt about financial solvency.

  7. If the company is a professional service ask for a copy of Errors and Omissions insurance.

  8. Ask around about that person or company - Fliers are flashy, but word of mouth is HONEST!
