Design vs. Chaos Every day you begin with a plan. Each night before bed, you set your alarm.
In the morning the plan is to turn the alarm off, get dressed and get going. A plan is.....what you want to do and what things should look or be like, when it is complete. A plan is what you put into action before doing anything.
Having thoughts presented on paper gets everyone on the same page. On a landscaping plan; driveways, plants, etc. can be changed or rearranged before they are implemented. Unlike moving furniture, rearranging items on a plan is substantially more cost effective than moving items around in your yard.
As with building a house, it is necessary to create plans to know where the walls and fixtures are going to be placed. Landscaping plans are not much different. They show where the pool, fountain, deck, paths, walkways, lighting planting, drainage and irrigation should go.
Plans are also important for the bid phase. If you are having several contractors bidding on the design work it is helpful if they are all bidding on the same items. That way it is easier to compare "apples to apples and oranges to oranges". Although, getting them to bid line item, unit prices, with extensions, is another story.
